Spatial Ecology & Conservation (SEC)
Mark has developed and led four international SEC conferences (2012, 2014, 2015, 2017) that bring together academics, practitioners and technical developers. The meetings provide a forum to discuss current and future research needs in relation to using GIS and spatial information to underpin conservation. The discussions have covered a wide range of topics (see proceedings below), including optimising site designation, evaluating outcomes of practical site management, developing policy, detecting environmental change and methods for remote long-term monitoring. The next meeting (SEC5) is currently being planned for 2019.
mark has edited three conference proceedings, published in the journal Ecological Informatics.
